Question: Who should use Bulk Email? Answer: Anyone that has a product or service that they are selling or marketing. Compared to any other type of advertising, bulk Email is by far the least expensive form of advertising.
Answer: First, you must have a ISP (internet service provider). This is a local dialup to connect you to the internet. Second, you need Bulk Emailing software. This is software that will let you design your ad and send out your Email to all the Email addresses in your list. Third, you need Email addresses of all the people you will be sending your ad to. Question: Is Bulk Email legal? Answer: Yes. Sending commercial Bulk Email is legal. There are however, ways to send your Email that your ISP (internet service provider) will not approve of. Using your ISP's mail server to send your bulk email might not be allowed. Older and less powerful bulk email software uses your ISP's mail server to deliver your Bulk Email. Warning, do not use this type of software or chances are you will loose you ISP account. Newer more powerful software turns your computer into a Mail Server and bypasses your ISP's mail server altogether. This also gives you the option to send your email out completely anonymously with no trace of where it came from. We recomend Desktop Server 98, Your computer will always act as a Mail Sever eliminating many conflicts between you and your ISP. Question: Can I search the internet for my own addresses and not buy an email list? Answer: Yes, there is software available for purchase (normally around $350) that will search the areas of the internet and compile an address list for you. The problem with this technique is, a large portion of the addresses these types of programs try to collect from are news groups. This was fine a few years ago, now bulk Email is becoming more common, and many people have become wise to this, they have encrypted there addresses in such a way that the software programs will not collect valid email addresses anymore. Even if this problem did not exist, the amount of time it would take you to collect a large amount of addresses would not be time effective for you. Question: Are there smaller or less expensive lists out there? Answer: Yes. We have seen other lists available. Claims of 100,000 "fresh" addresses that range anywhere from $79 to $250. We do not recommend buying lists of this type. We could do this too. We could break our list up several times and probably make more money. This is not the type of product we would like to be associated with. Why? because lists of this type often leave the customer dissatisfied. A list consisting of only 100,000 addresses will likely have several thousand undeliverable and duplicate addresses, leaving the customer feeling that they did not get there moneys worth. Also, if using the proper bulk emailing software (like the software including with our CD), you will be able to send over 100,000 emails in just one day. What these companies are hoping for, is that you will send out your email right away and then immediately buy more addresses from them. If you take the lowest price we have seen 100,000 addresses advertised for ($79) and were to buy enough of these to equal 3 million (the amount of addresses in our list) It would cost you $2370. Our lists contain absolutely no duplicate addresses. Question: How much of my hard drive space will this list take up? Answer: Almost none, In most cases you will not have to ever put the the address lists on you drive. Note: some Bulk Email software requires you to create a database from your addresses. If you aren't using software that requires this, you can load and use our lists directly from the CD, and never take up any of your hard drive space. Also note, If you were to purchase a list that is in compressed format I.E. ZIP or ARJ, you would have to decompress and copy this list to your drive before you could use it. Our lists our never compressed for this reason. Question: What format are these lists in? Answer: This CD is divided up in several ways to make it very easy to stay organized. All lists are in single address per line text format. This is the most common way Bulk Email software wants to read from a list before sending. The addresses are divided into files consisting of 100,000 addresses per file and are categorized into different directories, E.I. one directory for all AOL addresses, one for all CompuServe etc. Question: Why are all the addresses grouped together by domain name within the lists? Answer: One way to noticeably speed up the throughput of your mailings is by grouping the addresses in the lists by domain. Here's the reason: most bulk mailing programs send out groups, or packets of addresses at a time - usually 100, (you can alter this number). Before another packet can be sent out, the 'acknowledgments' that the first packet was delivered have to be received.before it can send out the next packet. Now if your packet of 100 had domains scattered all throughout the globe, your mailing software has to wait for all those various domains to send their 'acks' back. If this packet of 100 has all the SAME domain (i.e. @aol.com or @ix.netcom.com), then those 'acks' are going to come back quicker... thus dramatically speeding up the whole mailing process. All the lists in the BulkList CD have been grouped for this reason. Not only with the online services such as AOL, CompuServe, Etc, but all the general Internet domains as well. *Note: not only have they been grouped by domain name, but they have then been randomized within there own domain as well. Question: Are there any addresses with EDU, ORG, MIL, or GOV in this list? Answer: No. All EDU, ORG, MIL, and GOV addresses have been stripped out of the lists. We then made two separate lists. One for EDU and one for ORG. You have the option to send mail to these addresses if you like. All of these were stripped out because this will greatly cut down on your flames. Most EDU addresses are originated from collages and such. Most of these people have been involved in the internet for many many years and don't like the commercial direction the internet has taken. For this reason they are, shall we say, less then friendly to bulk Emailers. MIL stands for military, and GOV stands for Government. These are also the people you want to avoid when sending your Email. As for ORG, this stands for organization. Most of these people are webmasters, or involved in things like non-profit groups. We left EDU and ORG addresses in a separate directory to give you the option, whether you want to use them is up to you. Question: What are the system requirements to run this software? Answer: This CD is in PC format. Minimum requirements are a 486 with a CD-Rom drive, modem, and running windows 3.1, 95, or 98. If you are using a MAC, it is possible to access the addresses on this CD with PC Exchange if you are running system 7.5 and above. Go into your control panel or extensions and make sure PC Exchange in turned on. Note: If you can access PC disks on your MAC now, you won't have a problem accessing the addresses on this CD. Answer: Depending on your type of payment, you can have your CD on your doorstep within 3 days.
